Buckles, Buttons And Baubles

30 Jul

Sadly I had to say goodbye to one of my old favourites recently.  A trench coat, that brought with it nostalgic memories because I purchased it on a family holiday in Tokyo (Is it just me or does anyone else have sentimental attachments to their clothes like I do?), had come to the end of it’s life. I’d tried and tried to save it – stitching up the lining (several times) and cleaning and pressing it – but it was time to say goodbye.  It was starting to look shabby and I had no choice but to let it go.

But before I bundled it up and threw it in the bin, I quickly gave it a once over to see if there was anything on the coat that I could save.   I ended up keeping these buckles (pictured above) which were added to my crafty bits and pieces collection of sequins, buttons, beads, feathers, tassels, pompoms, etc.  I’m sure in the future something will come up where I think….I really need a buckle.  As I did here.

TIP Don’t discard anything from your wardrobe until you’ve thoroughly looked it over with a creative eye to see if there’s anything that can be salvaged and re-used.
