Accessorising

Accessorising

I love the simplicity of this outfit and effectiveness of the accessories. (The color’s beautiful too.)

Imagine how different it would look without the glasses, earrings, brooch, bag, scarf, and ring.

(I’m off to eBay and Etsy now to search for a vintage gold flower bud brooch.)

Bangles

31 Oct

Bangles trend

There’s no right or wrong way to wear them. It could be a cluster (if you don’t mind the click-clacking) or just one. The same color, different colors, different textures, materials, and sizes. One arm or two. Vintage, modern, or both.

What’s great about an accessory trend, is that by adding just one or two things (Providing it’s something you like, of course) you can freshen up some of the old pieces in your wardrobe. (Similar to changing over the cushions on your couch to give it an updated look.)

Imagine…

Two large gold bangles with a simple black dress.
Several colored bangles with a colorful blouse.
One large black bangle with a white linen blazer.

The thing to keep in mind is to wear a bangle in a way that works for your personal style. i.e., colorful, playful bangles might not be your thing, but modern, sleek bangles might.

You can get a few more ideas for wearing bangles on my Instagram here.

White Shoes

White Shoes

White Shoes (i.e. not sneakers)

Adding a new pair of shoes to your wardrobe is one of the quickest ways to refresh your look – and it doesn’t get much fresher than white.

White shoes (or cream/off white) could make your old navy blazer look modern, your favourite pair of jeans look cool, and a black work suit (or dress) you’ve had for a while, look new(ish).

Wearing a white shoe will look intentional. Like you’ve thought about your style.

Something To Try

9 Sep

Cardigan under blazer

Layer a cardigan under a blazer (or just a jacket in general).

Of course it’s great for warmth, but from a styling perspective putting a cardigan in between your first and third layer can add texture, color, depth and maybe even shape to your outfit.

Cardigan under blazer

It could be a good one to try as we transition into spring because you have the option of removing a layer if you get warm. Obviously take off the blazer/jacket, otherwise the cardie, and perhaps put it around your shoulders.

TIP: Play around with how you button your cardigan. I like to do up a couple at the waist & generally always leave at least one open at the bottom.
