Street Style At New York Fashion Week

17 Sep

It’s New York Fashion Week and if you’ve been following my Facebook page for a while you’ll know I love the Fashion Weeks for watching what the showgoers wear to the shows.  I find that, equally if not more, as inspiring as watching what the designers are parading on the catwalks.

One of the women whose style I admire, Giorgia Tordini, has popped up a lot on sites and Instagram feeds wearing this head to toe navy outfit with black shoes (yes you can wear blue and black together) and lots of gold jewelry.

Wearing head to toe one color can look really chic or really bland depending on how you do it.

There are some tips for how to do it here.

Bold Statement Earrings

9 Sep

Don’t save your big bold earrings for evenings or occasions.

Wear them during the day with a knit, a denim jacket, a striped t-shirt, a white shirt or a casual canvas jacket.

They’ll instantly make something basic, look interesting.

This Is One Way to Update Your Autumn/Winter Skirts And Dresses

21 Apr

One way you can change the look of some of your autumn/winter pieces is to add fancy hosiery.

Don’t just think of tights as something you wear for warmth – think of them as an item you can add to your clothes as decoration.

Black is certainly chic and somewhat safe, but don’t be afraid to experiment with other colors if it suits your personality and the image you’re wanting to portray.

Updating your wardrobe doesn’t always mean having to spend a lot of money.

Be creative!

Here’s some polka dot tights I found on sale.

The Size On The Label

11 Mar

If the size label on a garment bothers you and causes you to feel bad when you get a glimpse of it – cut it out.

As someone who looks at size labels from lots of different stores and brands, on pretty much a daily basis, I can tell you that they are extremely inconsistent.

It’s not uncommon for a client to fit best into an XS in one store and an L in another.

For this reason it’s important to focus on the fit and not be bothered by the size written on the label.
