Are You Settling For Near Enough?

25 Sep

Recently I showed you a before and after picture of how tucking something in can dramatically change a look, now I’m demonstrating what a difference a flattering pair of jeans can make.

If it’s been a while since you updated your denim there’s a chance you might be wearing a pair that have stretched, lost their shape, become too small or too big, faded, or are a bit out-dated.

Whether you’re 16 or 60 you deserve to be wearing a great pair of jeans – not just a that’ll have to do pair.  A pair you wear because you can’t find anything better.  A pair you wear because you hate shopping.  A pair you wear because you think it’s impossible to find something that will look any good on you.

Whether you buy your jeans from Target or Net-a-porter learn what to look for when shopping for a pair of jeans.

Use this picture above as inspiration. When you next put your old jeans on, think about whether they look similar to those on the left or the one’s on the right.  Decide which pair you want to be wearing, then challenge yourself to find them.

Are you settling for near enough?  In 2017 make it a goal to find a great pair of jeans.

How Not To Wear White Jeans

1 Aug

White jeansimage via here

If you’re thinking about investing in a pair of white jeans keep in mind that white should not be worn skin tight – they should just skim the hips and thighs (as above) – not strangle.  Despite your size.

There is a white jean for everyone and every body shape it really is a matter of trying lots of different styles (and there are many) to get the pair that works best for you.

Apart from the size and shape, pay lots of attention to the fabric. Too sheer will not be flattering on anyone.

And then once you’ve found a pair you love, you need to think about what you wear underneath.   Whatever style of underwear you wear it must be nude. (ie. not white…& not too tight)

Are Your Clothes Making You Feel Bad About Yourself?

26 Sep

Not wearing the best, most flattering styles, materials, underwear and lengths for our shape (no matter what our age or size) can make us start to think our body is different to what it really is.   It makes us focus on the bits we don’t like so much and forget about the lovely things.

For example, the wrong jeans can make you look like your butt is bigger than it is and the wrong sleeves can make you look broader and heavier through the bust.

In the photo above, did you notice this woman’s incredible ankles?

In this dress (and these shoes) they’re not being highlighted and accentuated at all.   All the attention is being paid elsewhere.  A different length for a start,  would make an enormous difference.

Are your clothes making you think evil, negative thoughts about your body…or is what you wear making you feel good about yourself?

This Is How Great Underwear Looks

20 Feb

I don’t need to use a lot of words in this post to express what I’m trying to show you – the photos say it all.

Oprah’s body language and the expression on her face tell us that she knows she looks good and she’s feeling it.

What I love about these shots of Oprah, is that they’re telling me she’s not thinking – “I’m too old to wear that”, “Nobody looks at me now anyway”, “I should be dressing more conservative at my age” or “I don’t have the figure for it anymore“.   The photos say to me I’m embracing my maturity and my beautiful womanly shape and I feel fabulous.

Not only do the photos demonstrate to us the impact wearing something that makes you feel great has, but they help us to see what the result is when you wear something that spectacularly flatters your shape  (the neckline, the length, the ruching across the tummy) and more importantly, what an impact great underwear can do to your overall look. (Oprah has supposedly said Spanx “changed my life”).

The photos of Oprah wearing the white skirt and pink top, are a different story.

Who would know she had such a lovely waistline in this outfit.

Her figure is hidden in too much fabric and volume.  Her clothes are making her look bigger than she is.

She’s incredible!
